  • Classroom Fixes Needed!

    Funded Nov 13, 2023

Thank you so much for the necessary resources, so my students have what they need to continue learning uninterrupted. Students were so excited to use the seat options purchased from this grant. My students continue to use our flexible seating, which helps them focus, as well as the other materials purchased with your generous gift. The dividers help students focus during testing creating a calm and quiet environment for them to demonstrate their learning. Thank you again for your generous contribution to my class. We are very grateful!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Giancaspro

  • The Future is an Apple Touch Away

    Funded Apr 7, 2022

Thank you for the opportunity to provide my class with needed technology. The computer allows students to engage with technology throughout the day. Students use it to research topics, center work, and work on daily tasks. My student teacher assistant uses the computer to complete daily tasks, which help our student-led classroom run more efficiently. Having reliable equipment is important, so instruction is easily delivered. My students enjoy using technology and it increases engagement. I appreciate your support, so my students can have reliable technology.”

  • Building Creative Communities

    Funded Oct 25, 2021

Thank you so much for your generous donation! My students have benefited from the funds with new flexible seating, which increases focus on tasks, notebooks to write their essays in, and a never ending supply of sharpened pencils! We have utilized our supplies in many engaging ways. Students are able to use our classroom economy to purchase extra notebooks and pencils. They also have learned to choose the flexible seat that increases engagement and focus. We can't thank you enough for supporting us in our endeavor to become better problem solvers and engaged students!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Giancaspro

  • Set the Stage to Engage!

    Funded Aug 13, 2019

Thank you for your generous support for my classroom! As you can see, students are engaged in meaningful learning. It takes some creativity to reach all students with rigorous content and engaging lessons. My students were so excited when they used the materials I received with your generous donation! We have thoroughly been enjoying the materials received with this grant. For example, students use the whiteboards and markers daily, shortening transition time and providing more instructional time. Most of the materials received are not consumable, which will allow future students to benefit from your kindness. Thank you for making a difference for my students!”

  • Digital Learning 5.0

    Funded Sep 23, 2017

My students and I have greatly benefited from your support to our Digital Learning 5.0 project. Students access various programs and their Google accounts on our new classroom tablets. Now while they eat breakfast, my students engage in practice of needed skills, which better utilizes their time then before we had our tablets. They also more eager to take AR tests on books they have read, which proudly earns them points to demonstrate learning.

Students work cooperatively on research projects coupled with topics learned from Scholastic News. They have researched bats, polar bears, spiders, pilgrims, fads, and Egyptian mummies, just to name a few. The tablets increase engagement while students explore these topics. Students have used this information to write essays and create videos, which they share with their families through QR codes.

The new tablets have enabled students with reading challenges to access grade-level material through text-to-speech technology. These students repeatedly listen to articles/stories to support learning. All students are excited to watch videos I assign, which further strengthen learning. They rewatch the videos many times, which enables them to actively participate in classroom discourse with their peers. Digital learning is a valuable resource that engages all students and supports higher level thinking.

These students are growing up in a digital world, so when I can incorporate technology, it efficiently allows me to reach all students and differentiate my instruction. Students are comfortable with technology and embrace it as a learning tool. Your generous support has made this possible.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Giancaspro

My 3rd grade students are digital learners and are easily engaged when the technology abounds. When students are engaged, discourse becomes richer, students ask more questions, inquiry-based learning takes place. To help support current engagement, I use Chromebooks (successfully acquired through grant money), Google for Education, plickers.com, and quizlet.com, as well as other websites to support student learning. To keep my Title 1 students competitive with their affluent peers, I want to add tablets to our arsenal of digital devices. To improve my students' digital diversity with technology, tablets are a necessity. Interviews, story telling, movies, and portability are some of the benefits of tablets. At the end of the second week of school, students successfully completed their first digital story telling project using Chromebooks. My students and I created QR Codes of their audio recording to display with their written project on our classroom bulletin board. This allowed the school community and visitors to scan the QR Code and listen to their personal stories, which met the speaking/listening standard. The portability of tablets will allow students the flexibility to create many different projects that support academic standards and share them on our school website.
