  • The Caffeination Station!

    Funded Dec 15, 2017

Our coffee cart has been a huge success so far! I feel that the cart has been a great way to provide a leadership role to our fifth grade students. They enjoy visiting staff members on Monday morning to complete coffee orders and the teachers love it as well! All of the proceeds from the cart will go toward purchasing a gift from our fifth grade class for Holz Elementary School. This gift could be something like a new bench, books for the library, work of art, iPad, or anything that benefits the school. We are in the process of brainstorming ideas and I am looking forward to seeing what the students come up with!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Walter

  • Help Fifth Graders Find a Love for Reading!

    Funded Sep 19, 2017

I wanted to extend my deepest appreciation for your contribution to our class literacy curriculum resources. Because of you, during the past month my students have been reading "There's A Boy in the Girl's Bathroom" and they are absolutely loving it! During our reading class, we are laughing out loud, having thoughtful discussions, and the students are begging me to read more. So far this year, this has been the only book that my students have not wanted to put down! I can't wait to wrap up this novel and dive into the others that I received from this project. Words can not express how thankful room 112 is for your generous donation to help us find our love for reading.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Walter

Fifth grade is such a pivotal year in our children's lives when it comes to school and learning. One of my goals this year as their teacher is to inspire all of my students to find a love for reading before I send them off to the middle school. From what I can see, our current reading series will just not be enough to accomplish this goal. These novels will inspire my students by taking them into a magical world called Narnia, to a desert where they will dig holes at Camp Green Lake, inside the minds of an unlikely group of 5th grade students forced to work together in Miss Rasmussen's fifth grade class, and on a journey of change in the eyes of Bradley Chalkers, the meanest kid in school. If you support this project, not only are you providing my students with more things to read, but you're giving them access to experiences an opportunities that would not be possible without these stories.
