The goal of our Adult Transition Program is to provide individualized support that allows our adult students to transition successfully from their role as high school students to their new role as adults in the community by empowering students, strengthening self advocacy skills, and building connections with community resources in order to support the student’s life plan. The Smart TV and Laptop will allow the curriculum to be projected so that the whole class can access the lesson and interact with the prompts. Having a dedicated system allows for immediate access and frees up other resources in the classroom for individual or small group learning. For example, when it comes time to plan our travel or to research our community based learning opportunities, this set up will allow the entire class to see and participate on the actual planning. Our class recently won the "Risktakers and Dreammakers" award for our work in our community closet program called The Hanger that accepts used clothes and is open to anyone who needs a helping hand. Our students work at The Hanger by collecting donations, separating, washing, folding and displaying the clothing items, which helps them gain valuable work experience and training. We are putting our prize money towards the purchase and are looking for help with the rest.
