Surviving & Thriving during COVID
Funded Mar 6, 2022Due to your generous donations, my class was able to explore, build, create and experience. Not only did the building toys excite them. They were able to take apart dinosaurs into parts and create their own dinosaurs. Many hours were spent exploring the varieties of dinosaurs they could imagine.
Our outdoor equipment was a HUGE HIT! Instead of running around aimlessly, the student had skip ankle toys that helped building their coordination. The egg and spoon activity brought out their competitive side. Many races took place and lots of fun was had.
We were blessed with so many things, but one that stood out was the fidget toys. This went a long way ion keeping little hands to themselves and not on others. These tools also helped them to focus while still being able to fidget their fingers.
Thank you so much for everything!”

Keiki Learning Safely During COVID
Funded Aug 6, 2021The students in my class were so excited when the boxes began arriving. It was like an early Christmas. Soccer balls, soccer nets, and skills rings were used right away. These were especially appreciated during recess. It has been difficult to keep the students occupied and socially distanced. Scarves were a hit on the first rainy day!
Fidget and sensory toys have helped to keep my little ones with short attention spans on task and hands off of one another. They are appreciated by all!
Basic supplies have been very handy in replacing supplies that have run out, broke, or gone missing. Every year crayons seem to disappear, having this stash has helped to alleviate my students going without.
My personal favorite supply that we received were the velcro dots for the carpet. These are perfect physical reminders of socially distancing within the classroom. Students are able to distance themselves.
Thank you so much for your generous donation that enabled my class to receive all these wonderful resources!!!”

This classroom project was brought to life by Hawai'i State Department of Education.A Whole New World...A Techie One
Funded Sep 16, 2020Thanks to your generous donations, I have been able to access digital materials that are both educational and entertaining. Having access to teacher created materials truly helped me to get my digital lessons organized. It gave me a base to begin my daily routines which I am comfortable to enhance to better fit my needs and the needs of my students.
When distance learning began, I was really OVERWHELMED. Much of this technology was practices that I was not familiar or comfortable with. With the help of Donor's Choose and Teacher Pay Teacher, I have been able to find a teaching routine that I am comfortable with. I have begun to become more comfortable with the "techie world" and hopefully this translates to my teaching.
I look forward to continuing to enhance my teaching with technology in both distance learning and face to face learning.”

Funded Nov 26, 2019My students were so excited to receive our wonderful art supplies. Glitter and glitter glue always stirs excitement in my little ones. They have begun exploring the Picasso's within themselves.
Upon receiving our materials, the class couldn't wait to begin using everything. I have been introducing to them the materials as well as what they can be used for and the proper care of the supplies.
A newfound favorite has been the "Do a Dot Art"! It has been great seeing students who have not chosen art to do during their choice time chose to do art. It is also refreshing to watch students interact with different groups of children. Art really opens the playing field for all to explore and be successful.
Thank you for making these opportunities possible for my class! Your generosity is truly appreciated!”

Imagination + Building = Learning
Funded Sep 5, 2019Mahalo! Thanks to your generosity my "Imagination + Building = Learning" project was funded. The building materials that the project funded have been at hit with my class. Many learning opportunities have been created thanks to our new materials. Students are working together to figure out how to what the materials are and how they can be used. It is so exciting to watch them playing and know that they are learning.
As stated in the project, my students come with many different abilities, including 2 non-English speaking kindergarteners. The hands on aspect overcomes the language barrier between the students. They are able to create and problem solve even with their language differences.
They are having fun and learning and for this I am so grateful! I hope you will continue to support the Donor's Choose and the many deserving classrooms.”

Funded Sep 14, 2018Thank-you so much for your generous donations. The items we received were so appreciated by my class and I. Things have come in slowly, so it has be like Christmas several times this year. First, we received our tractor seats with backs, aka. swivel chairs. These have been a hit and it is usually the table that fills up the first. Students love them because they can move around and they can easily turn and interact with their classmates. They also came in awesome colors.
Next, we had the couch which provides a comfortable place for them to read in the library. A mini couch made just for their size. We also have the cute table set that allows for more seating choices. All these seating choices have empowered them to choose daily where they will sit and whom they will sit with. These decision making skills are being honed to help them make "good choices" which I believe will help them in life.
We all love the fans which help us to cool down in our classroom which ranges from 85-92 degrees. We can learn in a more comfortable environment. All your donations have aided my class and I into a happy and productive class.”

Love & Learn in This Room
Funded Jan 25, 2018Words can not express our gratitude for your generosity. Your donations have helped to provide new seating for our class. The students have been so excited to use all our new furniture. It is not often that we can create such a aesthetically pleasing area to learn in. I truly believe it inspires them to learn and embrace the ownership they feel over the classroom.
Our new cube seating allows so much flexibility for them to create new learning spaces. They can configure themselves into small groups or individual workstations. This also provides me the options of moving students around to an area where they will be more productive. I look forward to experimenting with the different possibilities the seating provides.
Thanks again for your generous donations! You are truly appreciated!”

This classroom project was brought to life by The First Million Fund and 5 other donors."STEM"stational Activities: A Hands-On Way to Learn
Funded Nov 2, 2017My students and I are enjoying the materials provided from this project. They are so popular with my kindergartners that there is a sign up to use both the Engineer-A-Coaster Activity Kit and the Bee-Bot. It is so exciting to see them engaged and working cooperatively to problem solve these activities.
I am enjoying the Yacker Tracker Detector. This machine helps the class to manage their volume while still enjoying themselves. They work cooperatively to keep their volume at an acceptable level and saves me from constantly reminding them about their volume. It is a great management tool.
We look forward to utilizing all of our materials in many new ways. Thank-you so much for supporting the learning in our class! Your generous donations are truly appreciated.”

Full STEAM Ahead!
Funded Sep 26, 2017Thank-you so much for your generosity. Your donations have allowed us to purchase more hands-on materials that help spark the love of learning. My students have been able to utilize their materials to explore, make predictions, and analyze their results.
It is amazing to see them working together as teams to construct towers that are the strongest or tallest. The discussions and teamwork between the students are so exciting. They have made insightful observations and discoveries which I reinforce with both informal and formal discussions.
We have also begun playing with our Bee-Bot. I hope to get more Bee-Bots to create team competitions in coding our Bee-Bots to escape from different mazes. The possibilities are both exciting and endless.
Full STEAM Ahead for my class and I.”

This classroom project was brought to life by An Anonymous Donor and 2 other donors.I Can Rock My Chair?!?
Funded Sep 21, 2017Thank-you for your generous donation. I am not sure who was more excited to receive the new seats, myself or the students. It was like Christmas for the whole class. When the seating began arriving they couldn't wait to try the 3 different types of seats.
They are all taking turns on the different seats and deciding which works the best for them. It is interesting to see them trying the seats and actually bonding with each other as they use and discuss which seat they like the best. As the teacher I am taking notes to see which seats work best for this class and will use this to create a new Donor's Choose project to order more seats for our class.
I also see more energy wiggling on their chairs and less bothering one another when they are completing their work. I truly believe this is helping them to focus themselves better. I am relieved to see this happening, so we can focus on being a learning community.
Thank- you again for helping to support this project.”
