  • Reading is "FUN"damental

    Funded Mar 11, 2025

Thank you to the Benioff Ohana so much for supporting my "Reading is FUNdamental" project. The supplies received have already been put to good use. The students look forward to our Reading Intervention time when we use the supplies. It is awesome to see them so excited to read!

Our new activities are in game format, studentsʻ competitive spirit have been sparked. Even the most reluctant of readers have hung out by my table waiting for a turn to play word memory and sight word fishing. "When is it my turn" is what I constantly hear during this time.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Hashizaki

  • Bright Beginnings

    Funded Nov 1, 2024

Thank you so much for your generous donations to my "Bright Beginnings" project. We are well into our school year, but the items purchased have allowed me to replace many worn or broken supplies.

I continue to strive to create a warm and welcoming classroom that the students can thrive in. Our containers, shelving, and boxes help to keep us neat and organized. This allows my students the ability to access materials they need independently. Our new clipboards have allowed them to move around easily to do their work and incorporate partner work.

The new bottles are filled with sanitizer and keep my students clean and healthy. This in turn helps our attendance to stay high.

    Your generosity is so appreciated!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Hashizaki

  • Fun Fridays Live On

    Funded Oct 18, 2024

Thank you so much for funding my "Fun Fridays Live On" project. My kindergartners love school and learning. They work hard all week so they can take part in our Fun Fridays.

Originally Fun Fridays began to encourage attendance on this high absenteeism day, however it has evolved to include academic achievement.

Fun Fridays address both mental and physical needs. The items from this project encourage students to complete work and strive for academic excellence. Shoe charms and stickers are rewards that are given on Fridays for completed work.

The sports equipment help them with their agility and get their extra energy out. The balls with tails were an awesome find, they provide drag on the balls and make it easier for them to catch them.

Plastic bins and other organizational products have helped to store and organize everything. Students can independently access the items.

My students and I are very grateful to the generosity of the DOE and the Benioffs.”

    Mrs. Hashizaki

  • The Artist in All of Us

    Funded Mar 27, 2024

Thanks to your generosity, my project "The Artist in All of Us" was funded. I believe it has hit it's mark, we have had much success using the materials allowed by this project. Beginning with acrylic paints, googly eyes, and pipe cleaners, we were able to create tissue box monsters. This project included art, science and writing and was displayed on a family showcase night. What a success it turned out to be. The end products were all different, all original and so fun.

Spirograph is an old toy but still provides fun, great to challenge the fine motor skills of my kindergartners. It's also so fun to hear back from the students that their grandparents remember this toy (makes me feel old).

Pool noodles, what fun we are having with those. The noodles have been cut and we use them as rhythm sticks. This has been a great energy blaster and warm up for right and left brain exercises.

Thanks for all of your support!!!”

  • Filling in the Gaps

    Funded Feb 17, 2024

My "Filling in the Gaps" projects has done it's job. The materials provided by this project has helped us on the return to "normalcy". I have been able to encourage hands on and teamwork activities with my class. Our new gear toys, Clixo Creator, and Marble Run has allowed students to work together in creating and problem solving environment. It has been exciting to watch them get close and communicate with one another, instead of social distancing.

Our neon butterfly lights have been a hit, they are loved and help to make a happier environment in the classroom. I believe that a cheerfully decorated class makes for a happier learning environment.

Thanks for allowing me the opportunity to provide so many positive experience for my little ones. Your generosity is much appreciated!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Hashizaki

  • Fun Fridays - Part 2

    Funded Mar 6, 2023

Thanks to the generous donations to our Fun Friday Part 2, my class was able to receive more activities and materials for our Fun Friday Project. We began our Fun Fridays to encourage student attendance on Friday, which happened to be our highest absentee day. This project was a resounding success. Students were excited to come to school and were not happy with their families if there were planned things that made them miss this day.

A diverse amount of activities to try and fit everyone's needs and interests. What really helped is many things were hands on, age appropriate and could be done by most students. It also helped with our behaviors and encourage perseverance and the ability to win and lose graciously.

Thanks so much and I hope you continue to support Donor's Choose projects!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Hashizaki

  • Engage and Educate!

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

Thank you so much for your generous donations. I can say that my project "Engage and Educate" has been a roaring success. It was my hope to encourage active learning and improvement of social skills. These materials surely did their job.

The Goliath games have been a particular hit! I can hear students speaking to one another on how to win and encouraging one another to take their turn and teach how to play the games. It has been very exciting to watch.

Sight word learning has been a weakness this year, Sight Word Games Swat and the magnetic fishing poles have helped to reinforce the learning of their sight words. I have always found games to been very good about reinforcing my students learning and the item received are helping.

    Thanks for your support!”

  • Fun Fridays are Everyday!

    Funded Nov 1, 2022

"Fun Fridays are Everyday" has been a huge success. My students look forward to coming to school and seeing what kinds of projects await them. The original intent of Fun Fridays was to improve school attendance. We have definitely seen an increase of attendance on Fridays.

These hands on activities have provided both educational and social opportunities. We have even expanded to sharing our activities with another classroom. It is so exciting to see students engaging with one another, especially after the long separation of COVID.

Thanks so much for your generosity. My students and I are so appreciative of your thoughtfulness. I hope you will continue to support classroom in the future. Mahalo!”

  • New Year, New Needs

    Funded Aug 10, 2022

Thanks so much for supporting my project, "New Year, New Needs". My class and I have enjoyed opening and using our new materials. Of course one of their favorites it the playground balls. These and the lemon twist toys have been a class favorite.

The building toys have also been very popular during center time. They all enjoy building and creating flower gardens. Who knew building an artificial garden would be so much fun? The magnetic cubes are cool new gadget for them to explore and build with.

The unsung heroes in our project are the organizational supplies. These have helped me organize reading and math activities and made the supply materials more readily available for the class to use. These items were also used to help with our art supplies.

Thank you again for your generous donations!”
