Filling Bellies in Order to Fill Minds
Funded Nov 8, 2023Thank you so much to the generous donors for their thoughtful contribution in providing snacks for our students in need. We created snack bags for students to take home as needed, and they were so happy to recevie the snack bags. As students are needing more, we are continuing to refill their bags. Your support not only fills their bellies but also nourishes their spirits, creating an environment where learning can thrive without distraction of hunger. Thank you for being a beacon on compassion and ensuring that every student has the fuel they need to learn.”

Learning to Read, and Experiencing the Joy of Reading!
Funded Sep 7, 2017My students and I are so thankful for your generosity! As you can see in the pictures, my students were so excited to open the packages, and even more excited when they saw what was inside.
My students have been busy using all of our new materials purchased through this project. My kindergarten students absolutely love the Sight Word Steps materials. They use these materials to practice identifying sight words in various kinesthetic ways. They love playing "hopscotch" with the steps, and reading the words while hopping across them! My kindergarten and first grade students also love the letter blocks. They use these blocks to match uppercase and lowercase letters, as well as build spelling words and sight words.
My first and second grade students have been using the phones nonstop. They use these phones during their independent reading time. Many of my students' blending and decoding skills have improved, and I believe that improvement was impacted from their practice with these phones! Many of my students have commented that they can hear themselves and the sounds better through these phones.
All of my students have been enjoying the couch and pillows! They use these materials during independent reading time, and their reading stamina has improved because they are now so comfy when they are reading! The couch and pillows have made my reading intervention classroom more welcoming, as well as independent reading time more enjoyable! I recently added stuffed animals, and my students now love to read to the stuffed animals. I've noticed that these small touches to a learning environment can really motivate students and increase their engagement.”
