Cultivating Diverse Readers and Citizens
Funded Oct 23, 2020First off, I would like to say that my personal thank you notes will be in the mail this week. I wrote them out but then of course couldn't find them when I went to send them out. This seems to be how things are going this year, I can hardly keep my head on straight.
My students loved seeing the boxes of books arrive in the classroom; my colleague who brought a few of the boxes to my room said she wanted to bring them down because they were a bit of good news, when all we seemed to be getting was bad. The books have been fantastic read alouds for my class - we've been working our way through them as part of our "Classroom Book a Day" endeavor. They continue to come in handy for Black History Month and I look forward to Women's History Month as well. We read "Ada Byron Lovelace and the Thinking Machine" in honor of Ada Lovelace's birthday earlier this year - she is one of my heroines and I was so happy to be able to share her story with my students. And of course I have to mention just how much my boys LOVE "Bird and Squirrel"!
I can't begin to thank you for your incredible generosity, especially when times are tough for many. Your enthusiasm for education and your support of me, personally, as an educator, mean the world.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Rice
