My students are the best. My students in my groups are all second language learners. Many of them have illiterate parents who want the best for their kids but are not in the position to give it to them. The parents of my students work hard and are barely surviving in a language that is not their native one. Our school has a 47% poverty and growing. But all this just empowers my students to want to read. They want to learn to read and be able to tell the rest of their friends about great stories they read in English. They want to read in English so they can go to college and have more choices. They want to read so their parents can be proud of them.
