These materials will help students in a number of ways. First, students will improve in their letter and letter sound recognition as they engage in activities that promote such knowledge. This will help them in the process of learning to read. They will get to use their creativity and innovativeness in the arts. My Kindergartners will also grow in their knowledge of mathematical concepts such as counting skills as well as geometry as they use the shapes. Additionally, they will be able to manage their working time. These materials will help students reach their potential as they learn and work in our class environment. The flutterbug rug would be for children to sit down on during morning routines (my classroom is pretty cold; and we have tile!). The art aprons and the Kaplan splash mats are for children to use during our arts and crafts time. The Classroom Keeper (crafts keeper) would be used for students to store their art supplies. The A-Z magnetic uppercase letters, the teacher's friend- letter of the week and the alphabet floor puzzle are for children to practice their letter-sound recognition and correspondence. The big book of Dolch sight words would be used for students to practice recognizing basic sight words that would aid them as they develop their reading skills. The Ezra Jack Keats book set is a great asset to add to our classroom library as well as the soft seats in blue, red, and violet for children to sit as they read their books during sustained reading time. Also, time management is very important in the classwork process. Students should be able to work effectively given a certain amount of time to complete an assignment or task. Students would benefit from using the children's timer to keep track of time as they work.
