With my students having access to these engaging, non-fiction current events magazines, my students will develop a deeper love for reading and see how other students, like them, are changing the world. Fourth grade is a critical year in reading development. This is the year where they start learning to read for the purpose of gathering information. The current events that are in Scholastic News magazines will help them with science and social studies concepts. This will be a powerful tool to help my students gain a better understanding of both Science and Social Studies concepts as well as English Language Arts concepts.
