Foods & Nutrition I and II is taught to all grades at Southern Lee High School. Food & Nutrition I focuses on food production, kitchen and meal management, food groups and their preperation, and time and resource management. The Food & Nutrition II program focuses on nutrition science and food preperation. Students learn about their health and social responsibility while improving the way people eat. In Foods & Nutrition II, students learn about food protection, nutrients, life cycle nutrition, sports nutrition, medical nutrition therapy, and American and global foodways. Students are expected to understand the United States food system from farm to table so they learn how to can fresh vegetables and/or fruits. I am seeking donations to help purchase canning equipment in the range of $585.
