I teach in a district where a little over 4/5 of a largely immigrant student population receives free lunch. The dominant language of 97% of my class is Spanish; many are learning to master the English language, and two of my students are new to the country. Many of our students come into class everyday ready to learn, but often don't have the tools or resources to maximize their learning outside of the classroom. While school budget funds and personal money is used to try to cover all bases, resources are still missing.
