A Brighter Beginning
Funded Sep 27, 2024Once again, thank you for your generous contribution in making the school year a success. I have been making a lot of teacher made activities for my students to engage in during choice time. These activities include build number towers, count & clip (using the colorful clothespins), and alphabet game boards...to name a few. My students love the colored clothespins which makes some of these activities more appealing.
The binders were used as "Take Home" folders which I also used the cardstock to make the folders look nicer and more durable. I am in the process of creating "busy binders" with differentiated activities for the different learners in my room.
These are just a few examples of how I have used the materials. I am forever grateful for your support with this project because it has allowed me to be more creative.”

Funded Sep 18, 2024Thank you so much for your contributions towards this project. The class and I were so excited to open up the boxes to preview the materials inside. Since I had already arranged my classroom for the school year it was challenging to put the furniture items in the spaces that I had planned without rearranging the whole classroom; therefore, I placed the items in the space as best I could (please see pictures).
I was able to create "Alphabet Mystery Bags" which were sent home to support literacy learning and strengthen the home-school connection. Each child was assigned a letter, and the corresponding alphabet book was placed inside their bag. The children took the bags home then filled their bags with items that started with the letter on their bag. The class was so excited to see what everyone brought in during our sharing days. Also, the puzzles were a huge hit! I have a student who loves to create standing words using the puzzle pieces.
My class is thoroughly enjoying the materials purchased from this project and I can't wait to see what the room will look like next year! Thank you for helping me build and nurture a classroom full of life long learners!”

Funded May 15, 2024My heartfelt grattitude and appreciation to all of you who contributed to this project! We are almost 3 months in to our school year and I haven't been able to put everything out for my class yet; however, they have really enjoyed exploring and engaging with the materials that were purchased, especially the multicultural clothes and puppets that I have out in the learning areas. And the best part is we just had our Annual International Night with families at school. Some of the children recognized the clothing that were worn during this school event because we now have them in our classroom.
This was also a great opening to our Clothes Study which is happening right now. The clothes will allow us to continue our discussion around diversity and we'll be able to map out where our families are from.
Again, thank you so much for funding a project that allows me to show my families and students an appreciation for all people.”

Funded Dec 10, 2023Thank you so much for your generous contribution to this project and for helping me create a more organized, inviting classroom environment for children; a home away from home. The children were excited to see the clear bins as I opened the boxes, not knowing what purpose they were going to serve. I have decided to use some of the bins to store children's extra clothes and blanket that's used for rest time which is kept under their cubbies. They now have a "home" for their personal belongings.
I am still in the process of cleaning off the shelves and covering any shelves with too much gunk before putting labels on the bins/shelves. This is definitely a work in progress but I am hoping to tackle this task by next school year.
Again, thank you for all your support. These materials are & will continue to be a great addition to the classroom.”

Funded Nov 29, 2022Words can't express my gratitude for your generous donation in supporting my class develop and refine skills necessary for school success. The class was thrilled to have the new supplies in the art area. And it has been so much fun seeing the creativity in my class blossom.
Some of the projects created using the materials provided were "clothing" items such as capes and jewelry. The favored item was the washi tapes. I've seen paper robots being built and kites being made. I will continue to replenish the materials as needed to nurture the creativity in the room.”

Funded Sep 20, 2022First of all, I would like to thank all those who donated to this project. Without your support, I would not have been able to give my children these experiences. We haven't been able to use all the materials yet; however, the materials I've taken out have been open-ended. The rocks and shells were place in the Discovery area for the children to explore then moved to the Block area during the Building Study. Children used the dump trucks to transport the rocks to the construction site.
During our Tree study, the insects were placed in Discovery as we talked about insects that were helpful and harmful to trees. After we created our classroom tree, the insects were moved to the Dramatic Play area where children could pretend to be "arborists" and take care of the trees.
These are just a few examples of how the materials have been used in the classroom to enhance learning and play. I will continue to put out materials as it relates to our curriculum studies. Once again, thank you for creating these learning experiences for my class.”

Funded Apr 26, 2022I received the materials for the project "Physically Fit to Learn" towards the end of the 2021-2022 school year and immediately opened up some of the materials for the class to use. They loved using the scooter boards. Not only were the scooter boards used during recess, which was unstructured time, but I used the scooter boards during structured learning as well. I used them as a relay race to help teach the class teamwork & good sportsmanship. Each team had to race around the cone and tag the next person in line.
This school year I've been able to pull out the jump ropes, comet balls, swing and catch cups and bowling for the class. They enjoyed using them during recess. The comet balls became "fireworks" as the children counted down to 0 and threw the comet balls in the air.
My next steps with these materials is to provide activity stations during recess and help children work on eye-hand coordination. I know along the way they will develop other skills such as turn-taking and refine their large and small motor skills. I plan to incorporate the materials indoors so when the children need "brain breaks", they can take their break to help them refocus.
Thank you so much for your contribution to this project and for helping my past, present and future students succeed in their educational journey.”

Funded Jan 12, 2022Thank you for supporting this project! I placed some materials into my learning areas as soon as the materials arrived, especially the ones related to the Building Study, our focus study. Children really gravitated towards the magnatiles. I worked on shape identification and children learned how to build 3-D shapes. Children soon discovered that 2 triangles can make a square! To this day this material is still a favorite!
I will continue to gradually place the materials into interest areas but will also use them for small group learning, especially the number & patterning materials. This will help me assess children's counting and numeral identification skills.
Once again, thank you for providing materials to support the growth and development of my current & future students!”

Now I Know My ABCs and More...
Funded Nov 15, 2021Thank you so much for supporting this project and for investing in my current and future student's learning for years to come! It took a while to put the materials together; however, it was well worth it!
My students were overjoyed to see the boxes dropped off in the classroom. They kept asking what was inside the boxes so I opened them in front of the children. They wanted to use the materials immediately. I made sure I shared who donated the materials to the classroom.
The Alphabet Sounds Teaching Tubs and the Alphabet Mystery Box are very versatile. I've used the tubs to teach letter sound knowledge as well as same sound sorting. The mystery box is the children's favorite. I use the mystery box to support letter-sound connection and writing. Children have also enjoyed using the file folder games.
Once again, thank you for all the love and support!”

Funded Oct 28, 2021I am forever grateful for your support this school year and years to come! So far I've been able to create a few books using the book binding machine and have placed them in the library area. Children drew pages to go in the book and have enjoyed looking at each other's work. I hear things like "Look, that's your picture" or "I drew that". They seem overjoyed and proud that they can also be authors & illustrators! An activity like this has boosted my children's self-confidence while developing skills such as pencil grasp, critical thinking, and language development.
As for the purchased books, I haven't been able to fully use all of the books since most of them are being used as supplemental books for the curriculum. I have been reading some of the social-emotional books and the children seem to enjoy them, especially the Elephant and Piggie books related to friendship. During story time, I've noticed more children engaged when I pull out the Elephant and Piggie books. Also, I have the books in a bin at the front of the room. Children who finish snack early or pack-up their belongings first can look at books while they wait on their peers. I've noticed children skipping snack or packing up faster so they can come to the carpet to book browse.
Once again, I'm excited to create more books as well as use the books purchased to expand the children's understanding. These books are slowly making it the library area for children to read on their own. Thank you for all the support you've given me and future teachers!”
