"Technology in Action"
Funded Jan 3, 2018This project was the most successful project in my classroom thus far. My students and I were really struggling without a printer in the classroom at the beginning of the school year. As I expressed in my essay for the project, many times I assigned students to do research for homework and they couldn't do it because many of them do not have access to technology at home either.
This project opened new doors for my students as they explored the Internet for research and guidance for homework and projects. Students engaged in research topics such as U.S. foreign policy in modern times and compared that with foreign policies in the past such as the Monroe Doctrine and Isolationism. Students engaged in research for other topics such as yellow journalism, the triangle shirtwaist fire, and U.S. immigration policies. Most importantly, with your help, students were able to print their assignments and share with their peers.
As always, I am thankful for your contributions!”
With gratitude,

Funded Nov 20, 2017I cannot express in words how grateful my students and I are for your gift to make this project a success. My students could not believe how quickly the project got funded. I used this opportunity and your valuable donations, to teach them the importance of giving back to society, which is an imperative factor in fostering good citizens.
We will be using the computer for a variety of activities. Previously many students could not complete typed up work due to the lack of computers. Now students are able to do their classwork and homework on daily bases. In addition, we will also be working on research-based projects, and writing essays.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Azad

Funded Oct 18, 2017This project was a huge success with my 8th graders. I was able to share the snacks with all 132 of my students, which is very rare.
When I first announced the funding of the project, students were very excited. However, the true excitement I saw was when they actually saw the boxes of snacks.
The biggest impact that I have noticed in my students is that they are a lot more alert in class. They also look forward to the class and stay focused throughout the lesson.
When asked to think out the contributions that many people made in order to make this project a success, some of my students expressed the following:
"Thank you for donating snacks to our school. I'm so so so so thank full of you guys for donating. I like all the snacks that you donate. Thank you."
"Thank you so much for donating money so that my teacher could buy us students snacks. I was grateful because I was so hungry at that moment. When I was finished, I was full and happy."
"...us having snacks its very good because sometimes we be starving because we eat at 1:36PM and with the snacks the hungrynes could calm down."
"...thank you so much for the money you donated for us to eat after us having like the whole day without eating and for us to eat at least have something in our stomach for us to at least not stop in another class to eat."
After seeing the enthusiasm from my students, I am energized to create many more projects like this in the future.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Azad
