  • Understanding & Protecting Free Speech

    Funded Sep 29, 2022

This project is one of the most important projects for my class. The "Free Speech handbook" is crucial in teaching students the most fundamental American rights.

The books vibrant comic depictions were intriguing to my students and helped to teach difficult and controversial concepts such as Nazis in Charlottesville, and taking a knee/pledge of allegiance.

Overall, the books have been instrumental in teaching my students about free speech. They will be using it when preparing for moot court in the Spring. Thank you very much for your support.”

  • Planning Our Way To The Future

    Funded Sep 29, 2022

This project will have life long benefits and implications for my 8th graders. The ability to stay organized is essential in meeting deadlines and completing work both inside the classroom and in personal lives.

This year, my goal was to train my students to get into the habit of writing "to do lists" and using their planners regularly. This entailed them recording their homework assignments, due dates, test dates etc during the school day. Then they would go home and check their planners to remind themselves what they needed to complete for that day. This helped to bring up the homework completion rate, especially for students who needed the addition push for organization.

Overall, the planners have been instrumental in keeping my students on track this school year. Thank you very much for your support.”

  • Snacks, Snacks Everywhere!

    Funded Oct 30, 2019

I'm so grateful to your for your support in this project. This project was very special for me and my students due to the fact that my students are the most happiest when I order them snacks. The reaction they have everything I say it's snack time is incredible. Thus far I have used the snacks as a reward for good classwork and new achievements. In my after school program, I have used the snacks as a bribe to get students to come to the program. I'm forever thankful to you for making this happen.”

  • Fresh and Clean Every Day

    Funded Jun 23, 2019

Thank you for your contributions to our project. Students were very excited to see the products. It was a surprise to them as they opened the boxes and saw the material. One student stated, "this is a good idea and very important. Because last week I needed a pad and I had to ask a friend." Another student asked, "where are you gonna put them, so we can take it discreetly." In reaction to the deodorants, one student said, "Oh Dove, it's my favorite." I was excited to see that students were interested in the material and thought it would be useful to them as well. Thank you for making this happen.”

  • Sweeping Away!

    Funded Jul 9, 2019

Thank you very much for your contribution to my project. Last school year, I had purchased some furniture for my classroom to create a cafe-like atmosphere. The material for this project will help to keep that furniture neat and clean. My students had a blast opening and assembling the products. They were thrilled to see that we had a handheld vacuum. They got to work right away and started to vacuum the bean bags and the rug. Other students tried out the broom and swept the room. I've never seen the students so excited to clean.”

  • Opportunity Of A Lifetime

    Funded May 1, 2019

Thank you for providing me the platform to experience a conference like this. It truly was an experience of a lifetime. It was my first time on the west coast and that in itself was a learning experience.

The conference was very informative. I learned to use applications such as Kahoot, Quizlet, Quizzes, google sheets, google websites, etc. In addition, I had the opportunity to meet educators from across the country who shared practices from their part of the country which was also a great experience.

Thank you for making all that possible.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Azad

  • Planners, Planners, Everywhere!

    Funded Jul 7, 2019

My students were very excited to see the planners. I have initially requested for students to buy their own academic planners but realized that less than 10% of students actually bought them. Hence I surprised them with these planners and they were thrilled. One student said to another student, "Do we have to give these back to her?" I smiled and replied, "No. They are for you to keep." Students were very appreciative.

I'm grateful to you for making this project possible. I hope these planners help my students to be organized and use their time wisely.”

  • Tech. Ed. Professional Development

    Funded Mar 9, 2019

The technology conference was a life changing experience. I was excited to see that people from all across the country were interested in implementing technology in their classrooms.

I learned how to use various programs such as Google Sites, Adobe, Kahoot, Ed puzzle, Quizlet, and Flipgrid.

I will be using these programs in my classroom to engage students and make activities fun for them. In the 21st century, technology is everywhere, hence as educators it will be best to utilize these technology in our classroom to enhance our lessons and invite students to share their interest in tech.”

  • Snacks, Snacks, Snacks!

    Funded Mar 10, 2019

Thank you, thank you, thank you! We are grateful to you for making this project possible. My students were thrilled to hear about the snacks. Students were introduced to healthy snack options such as almonds, peanuts, protein bars, and water which they devoured. These snacks were an excellent motivator to get students to come to extracurricular activities such as Test Prep Academy and a History and Arts Club as well. Overall, the project as a huge success. I will definitely do more projects like this in the upcoming school year.”

  • Diverse Students Need Diverse Seating Options!

    Funded Apr 10, 2019

I'm grateful to every single one of you for making this project possible. When I started the flexible seating project series, I did not think this would be completed in such a short time period. I began implementing in February and by April, my classroom was completely transformed. My students "LOVEEEEE" the room and that is the best reward for me. Many 7th grade students came to visit my room and asked if they would be able to use these seats next year when they are in the 8th grade. The excitement and enthusiasm from students drive me to continue these kind of projects and I could not do it with out you.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Azad

The printer will help my students to have access to the materials that they need everyday such as guided notes, reading assignment and other resources. The printer is a cruical material because it will be used daily to make emergency copies and lesson material. The globe will be useful for students to master their map reading skills and finally the bins will help students to submit homework in an organized manner. Previously students have shown eagerness to learn about the various places in the world, however, due to inadequate materials, students did not receive all rounded instruction. Therefore, this project will serve as a crucial addition to our classroom supplies. In addition, the globe will give students the opportunity to actually see the locations around the world and in the United States that they learn about every day. The organizational supply bins and shelves will allow students to organize and submit their work which will make the classroom efficient.
