My school population reflects the diversity of New York City: from students who live in temporary and public housing to students who live on Park Avenue; students whose parents are building supers and students whose parents are consuls at the UN; students who are learning English and students with disabilities. They come from every nationality and ethnicity, from Colombia to Malta to Korea to Afghanistan. I want all of my students to understand that technology is a tool they can use to express themselves creatively, and a tool they can use to change the world. I want them to become critical thinkers and problem solvers who are comfortable making mistakes and learning from them.
