Play presents children with a particularly strong opportunity for growth because it meets the needs of the whole, individual child. Through play, young children explore, experiment, discover and solve problems in playful and unique ways. Research shows that children of impoverished backgrounds experience play in less than 20% of their day. Play-based learning helps them to explore, learn, and grow in all areas - cognitive, social, emotional, and physical. While using toys such as the Kids Carpet Playmat and Fisher-Price Little People Zoo and Vehicles, the three and four year olds that I teach will learn to improve their knowledge and use of basic concepts, vocabulary, and follow directions. The Play-Doh Modeling set will help to improve their fine motor skills while creating fun shapes and sculptures. They will learn to improve their social skills with the Sweet Li’l Family set and Hear Myself Sound Phones. Your donation will help to enhance the growth of my students who otherwise do not have the opportunities to.
