Imagine this, transitioning 4-5 nonverbal, severely developmentally delayed kindergartners to speech therapy 1-2 times a week. Many of these students have adaptive seating needs which have to be carried up to therapy. During this transportation time, many of these students have behavior needs and need hands to be held, doors to be held, and help going up and down the stairs. While carrying 1-2 adaptive seats I am unable to assist my students in this these various needs. These adaptive seats will be stationed in my office and will assist my students, as well as myself, transitioning the students to the speech therapy room from the classroom and vice versa.
