Over the past year, most students spent their days at home on Zoom sitting wherever they wanted to learn. They got comfortable on a squishy couch, laid on the floor on soft carpet, or stood by a table. Although online learning wasn't ideal for most students, they did get used to being able to sit and move around while learning. For this reason, I'm trying to create opportunities in my classroom that would also allow students to work efficiently while being comfortable. Research has shown that students' attention span and ultimate ability to learn are directly related to the comfort of their body. When they get tired of sitting on hard plastic chairs, their attention span is gone. Being able to move around the classroom and sit in different more comfortable places will allow students to focus more on their learning and less on their discomfort.
