The books/resources selected in this project will assist me tremendously during virtual therapy sessions with my students during Distance Learning this year. Not being able to return to in-person school will bring significant challenges for many of my students, particularly the ones that already have underlying psychological and emotional difficulties. Bibliotherapy aims to bridge the gap by using literature to help students improve their awareness and overall mental health by providing information, support, and guidance in the form of reading activities via books and stories. As a Clinical School Social Worker, I am looking forward to utilizing these books and online Teacher-Pay-Teachers resources as means to engage my students in important conversations on issues around learning during COVID times, Race/Racism, diversity and accepting differences, empathy, perseverance, managing difficult emotions, building self- awareness, strengthening positive relationships, and continuing to build resilience skills.
