The resources Im asking for support in purchasing for my classroom help provide additional support for ESE and ESOL students and also help us incorporate additional multi-media resources into our lessons and student projects.
Tablets will support our ESOL and struggling students in reading by allowing them to look up new words, select text-to-speech or read aloud options, and have access to audiobooks all at the touch of the screen. The tablets will also support students kinesthetically, allowing them to interact with hands-on learning activities through educational apps in science, math, and social studies. Having tablets will also support our project based learning by utilizing the multimedia features tablets provide such as photo and video creation, editing, production.
The pocket projector will allow me to project short and meaningful videos to reinforce student listening and oral skills, which is especially helpful for our struggling students and students with special needs. I will also be able to incorporate fun, but very important, digital assessment activities that engage students while gathering quick and useful insights on what students are understanding and what concepts I need to reteach or enrich. Finally, a projector will allow students to display their multi-media projects developed on the tablets. This is especially important because it not only validates student learning by giving them the opportunity to present to larger audiences, but it is relevant to real-world applied learning, teaching students how presentations are given in college and in the workplace.
