Flexible seating benefits include burning more calories, using up excess energy, improving metabolism, increased motivation and engagement, creating a better oxygen flow to the brain, and improving core strength and overall posture. Bouncy Bands will allow students to stretch their legs out and not worry if their feet end up under someone else's desk or in their personal space. Some students just have to keep moving, and Wobble cushions will allow them to do that while remaining seated. These can be used by students needing to fidget during both small group and whole class activities. Students will be happy, more engaged in their work and relaxed. Students will use the inflatable doughnut during individual and partner reading at our reading center. The metal stools will be used during guided reading, where small groups of students are work with based on needs with the teacher. Simple in-class activities can boost student performance. Studies suggest that children who participate in short bouts of physical activity within the classroom have more on-task behavior, with the best improvement seen in students who are least on-task initially.
