My students have a natural curiosity that I want to cultivate. Instead of performing math interventions through worksheets or online drills, I want my students to use their hands to build a concrete understanding of concepts. They are constantly asking the question "why?" By using various hands-on manipulatives, students can apply science skills, create innovative technology, explore engineering fundamentals, and master mathematical problems. My goal is to use the brain toys to reach across all areas of content by working interdisciplinary to create authentic and genuine lessons that promote critical thinking and inspire my students beyond the classroom. Learning should be fun and relevant. Each one of these various manipulatives and building sets provides a hands-on instruction opportunity that allows students to see the “why”. Students are able to illustrate, connect, and apply the concepts or skills instead of just bubbling an answer or clicking random buttons. I look forward to my students learning through this project.
