My students lead hectic lives, and continually strive to do well in our all-honors, competitive college preparatory environment. Over the past few years, I have seen student stress and anxiety rise, and have struggled with how to help them find peace and calm throughout their day. After much reflection, I knew that I could offer students something that has often brought me solace, the opportunity to practice mindfulness and moving meditation during their school day. With your help, I will offer brief periods of stress-relief practice and mindfulness techniques alongside my dual-enrollment English language arts curriculum. In addition, I will offer longer yoga classes for students after school. These supplies are much needed, and will be well-appreciated.
