My students are working 100% virtually. We are teaching all the classes we would have if we were in person, so our students don't miss out, but teaching ceramics virtually comes with its own challenges. During a normal school year, I have 25-30 students per class and I have a set of classroom tools for students to use. I have four Ceramics 1 classes and 94 students. We only have tools for 30 students at the most. I want to provide each student with the tools they need to successfully work on ceramics at home. I have put together a basic tool kit that will enable the students to have the best chance at learning, creating, and making ceramics projects while at home. The school system is able to provide the clay needed but it is my hope to provide the tools necessary for the students to work at home. This will be the first experience with clay for many of the students. I teach hand-building techniques and students will make a large variety of projects. I will have them drop off finished work so I can glaze and fire their work.
