  • Breakfast = Brain Power

    Funded Jan 3, 2023

Your donations meant the world to our students. School is not just for academics. It is also for social, emotional and physical development. The basic need of breakfast items provides the children with choices to help kick start their day. Kindergarten is not only a fun time to learn your ABC's and 123's but, a time to try new things and these items have done just that. We have had lessons where the children state their opinion on what items they like and don't like. This a transferred over into reading and writing.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Falcón

  • Organization Equals Opportunities

    Funded Sep 29, 2022

This project has helped the teachers and students keep all the necessary materials in order and easily accessible to all. We have been able to store materials for home and school. Such as math manipulatives, books, puzzles, spare clothes, snacks and so much more. We created a whole lesson for the children on the importance of organizing and how it helps. This has translated into their classwork. Where they are able to keep their materials organized to reach and store. We have overheard the students remind each other where to keep their materials.”

  • STEM + Kindergarten = Exploration

    Funded Sep 29, 2022

Your donations have helped the children explore their love of gardening and enhanced the beautification of our small garden. We had a great time planting, caring and monitoring the growth of our plants, flowers and vegetables. We extended our knowledge to prek, where we share our materials and we build the garden together. In addition, we had a park buddy day where we built animals with the Prek and created our own zoo. Kindergarten and prek explained the different animals they created to various visitors. Becoming zoologist and increasing their social skills.”

We are a IB school, this means that we are teaching our students to be world thinkers, inquirers and open-minded. Having said that the math materials and sensory items will help to enhance their love of Math as well as build on their communication skills with each other. The sensory materials will help to refocus our students while taking time in our cozy corner. Understanding their emotions and when a break is nessacary is crucial to their development. These hands on materials will surely provide them the nessacary confidence they need to move on to 1st grade.”

  • Hats, Gloves, Scarves Oh My!

    Funded Feb 9, 2022

Our weather here in New York City has been incredibly unpredictable this year. Our classes were so grateful to have recieved the funding for this project, that they even shared with a pre-k student. One of our students asked us to give a glove, hat and scarf set to two pre-k students that were out in the yard playing. It was moving and extremely thoughtful of them. Our students are IB Learners, they learn to be compassionate, caring and helpful. This simple act of kindness is what makes us so proud to be their teachers.”

With this funding we can open an array of possibilities. I would like to enrich their love of reading by creating a Reading Camp. The Reading Camp will be a place where the children can enjoy independent reading as well as shared partner reading. All the while sitting in a camp site. The children can sit on outdoor camping chair, or they can pull up a log pillow. Either way they choose by bring the outdoors inside, this reading camp can make reading more enjoyable and sustain a lifelong love of reading. Living in the city it is rare that you can experience the outdoors. With this project the children can enjoy the outdoors while engaging in meaningful and deep rooted discussion about the books that are reading.
