Snack Power = Brain Power
Funded Mar 4, 2025This project and your donations has impacted our students tremendously. We love to enjoy cozy reading time in our camping center with snacks, celebrate birthdays and provide a not so easy to obtain snack for lunch and afterschool.
Many of our students do not have the luxury of obtaining these simple childhood snacks. Their economic status makes it difficult to enjoy these simple things. The students find great joy in being able to go in a chose their own lunch or afterschool snack. Not worrying that they do not have anything for their snack time in which they social and enjoy each others company.
This simple act of made a HUGE IMPACT!!”

Hats, Gloves, Scarves, Oh My!
Funded Jan 22, 2025The students were beyond thrilled to get new scarves, hats, gloves and other necessaries. They were excited to pick out their own colors and even help each other put on their newly selected items. Giving them this gift meant the world to us. As New York City gets very cold, and alot of our students are young, this warm and generous gift came at the perfect time. We enjoyed seeing the smiles on all their faces. The thanks that we received just melted your hearts.
It was great to share with the students how we were able to receive this amazing gift.”

Funded Jul 20, 2024The eucalyptus theme that we were gifted for our classroom, is truly amazing and a blessing. The soft green colors give the room a calm relaxed feeling. Matched up against the wood shaped paper provides the classroom with a rustic feeling.
The theme of the classroom has been a topic of conversation with the class as we talk about our social emotional development and how we can connect to others. Everyday we have meditation sessions in the classroom as well as yoga time. It's truly surreal.”

Funded Aug 28, 2024This donation was a game changer. The children enjoy the hands on materials, while working with a peer. These are the things that we aim for in our first grade classes, socializing and hands on materials to enhance fine motor development.
During a small group in math a student recognized the shape rectangle. They said, "Mrs. Falcón look a rectangle just like the board and my name tag."
That was a proud moment for me, knowing that my student associated the shape with their environment was priceless.”

Color Brightens Learning!
Funded Aug 24, 2024This year has been very different. We have an influx of students from other countries. We have tried to provide more visuals, more schedules, more books to take home in color. More center choices in color.
We want to make their first experience in an American school one they won't forget. As odd as it sounds, this donation is doing just that.
This donation has helps us brighten up the classroom, their learning and their view of education. Color brings things to life and your donation is proof of that.”

Snack Power Equals Brain Power
Funded Sep 9, 2024Thank you for your donations. Something as simple as a snack during our small group interaction has brought learning to life. When the students saw that we were using the snacks during math small group, they were excited and it has helped our students with counting and connecting to numbers.
Finding the sum and grouping numbers has helped the children understand addition and subtraction on a different level.
They have enjoy math more and look forward to working at math time and with each other.”

We have had extensive conversations on why brushing our teeth, taking a bath, brushing your hair and washing our hands is important to not only to themselves but the people around them.
Maintaining good hygiene has helped the students increase the social connections as well with each other. They are quick to help a friend in need. Reminding each other the importance of good hygiene.”

It's All About the Independence!
Funded Aug 24, 2024Our students are extremely independent and ready to take on the world. They love to share their ideas and opinions. These materials that you helped us obtain, pencil boxes, pencil grips, easy squeeze scissors and erasers have help our students build confidence and independence by having their materials near them and ready to work.
They have also learned responsibility in keeping the materials safe and organized. They often make sure the each has the materials they need and are willing to share with a peer.

Recess Time: FunTime
Funded May 17, 2024Recess and indoor play (when it rained) were so much fun this year. The students learned the importance of team work, taking turns and having fun.
The wooden connect four game, the catch a ball set, the corn hole sent and the hola hoops were new games to all our students. It was great to teach them something from our childhood.
The Hola Hoops were the biggest hits. We had hola hoop contest with our classes and teachers. It was great to see the smiles on their faces, especially when they were trying to teach a teacher how to use the hoop.
We had a blast.”
