I meet diverse students’ needs by differentiating instruction, assessments, assignments, and activities. The materials I have selected for this project will allow me to differentiate difficult concepts such as factoring quadratic equations. This topic is often taught as "un-doing" the FOIL method without utilizing manipulatives or a hands-on approach. Receiving funding for algebra tiles will enable me to teach students how to factor quadratics in a meaningful way that provides them with visuals that address "why" we are factoring and "how" we know our solution to be true. I continuously analyze students’ learning through formative and summative assessments, and adjust instructional practices appropriately, so that students’ math and life skills develop to their fullest potential. My students will utilize the materials provided by this project in many ways. The reusable dry erase pockets will enable assessment of student understanding quickly and efficiently. Miracle timers will keep our class on task so that we can make the most out of our time together. The wall storage pocket charts will hold our student-stations materials and aid students in practicing their self-sufficiency. We will use Playdoh to sculpt and create during our brain break time. I genuinely believe that every student is capable of learning and excelling in math. Please help me, help my students!
