  • Make It Last!

    Funded Feb 14, 2025

I am so grateful for everyone’s donations. These items will not only benefit my current class but they will benefit my classes for many years. I am thankful for the time I will save not having to duplicate resources that can be laminated and preserved. It truly takes a village to support our children.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Spickelmier

  • A Colorful Environment!

    Funded Aug 22, 2023

Thank you so much for funding our project. It has allowed us to have access to a color printer. We have a color printer in our school office but every time I needed an item printed in color I would have to email the document to them and wait to have it printed. Then we are limited with how often we can print.

My students have loved having resources that are in color throughout the classroom. We have been writing the room, and that is where we hang up different cards with letters, numbers, words, or shapes and they walk around in the room finding the cards and recording what was found. They have even started looking for them during their free center time. They will go get the magnifying glasses and wander they room together. Then as they find them they scream with delight I found the green monster, we did monsters for Halloween, with the number 6 on it.

The other exciting moment was being able to share color reports with the families at parent teacher conferences showing where their child scored on their Early Childhood Observation Tool. I had parents that had older children. In the past years they have been given grey scale copies, and they commented that it was so easy to read and understand.

Again thank you so very much! It is greatly appreciated.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Spickelmier

  • Creativity Through Art

    Funded Dec 8, 2022

My students were so excited to receive our Creativity Through Art supplies. We are doing project based learning units at our school. These supplies have been very appreciated and helpful as they create their projects.

One of the units the students choose was a Dinosaur unit. The students decided to create a dinosaur museum. We used our supplies to create dioramas. We used the watercolors to color the scenery in our dioramas. The scenery pieces that were added such as the volcanos and vegetation were copied on the cardstock.

We are so grateful for the generous donations. We will continue to use the supplies in our project based learning, and other activities in our classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Spickelmier

  • Positive Behavior Treasures!

    Funded Oct 24, 2017

Thank you so much for your donation. All of the items received were turned into the "Tiger Store." The students try their best to make great choices and love working hard to earn DOJO points. After I received the items the students shopped from the store twice in November. Then they shopped once in December. They will continue to earn points so they can shop from the store once in each of the following months until the end of the year.

The students were super excited to see all of the items in the store. They like to sit and look at all of the items. They make plans for what they are buying and what they want to buy next time. After the first store when the children went to free time. I was putting the store away in the closet. One of the little boys was playing with stickers and he followed me and put a sticker on the store. He then said, "The store deserves a sticker!"

The store has helped with encouraging good behavior. They know there is a reward for all of their points they are earning. The students are always wanting to know who has the most points, which helps them work harder to earn more points. We are so appreciative of your donation.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Spickelmier

The requested items will be used as incentives to promote positive behavior. We use a program called Class DOJO and students are awarded points for positive things like working hard, being on task, acts of kindness, following directions, and good behavior. These points convert to "cash" and the students will be allowed to "purchase" from the requested items. I will be using the cart that I requested to build a "store." The "prices" will be listed on the front of the bins. Then the students will purchase from these items: knobby playground balls, jump ropes, squeeze stress balls, bouncy balls, stuffed monsters, flashlights, Rainbow springs, animal masks, glider planes, sun glasses, Hot Wheels, Pet Shop figurines, and light up rings. They will be allowed to purchase every other Friday in the beginning to provide the students with concrete evidence that these points produce an actual reward. As the year progress the rewards will move to every three weeks and then to monthly allowing the students to make the reward a more intrinsic compensation. These rewards are a great incentive to eliminate negative behaviors, and to motivate the reluctant learner; thus increasing the amount of time spent on learning. Our PTO had been funding the incentive store, but with the economic crunch we are facing in our area they no longer have the resources to do so. This grant will help us focus our energy and promote positive behavior in our classroom.
