When students are struggling to read it can become frustrating and boring. Phonics is a decoding strategy that students need so they understand the relationship between letters and their sounds, as well as patterns within words. Practice activities that include reading and making words is an excellent way to build phonics skills. Recognizing words automatically will lead to reading fluently, which in turn will lead to better comprehension. These phonics materials will help students practice patterns within words so they can recognize words quickly. Then, students are able to apply those patterns to new words within the context of a book. Having the ability to recognize patterns and decode new words automatically will lead to more enjoyable reading!
