  • SmartBoard in Need of Some "Smart" Technology

    Thank you so much for your generosity and support in purchasing a new Toshiba laptop for our classroom to help run our new Smartboard. We have hooked it up and our pages and programs are loading at an astonishingly fast speed. My students are completely engaged and learning so much from using the Smartboard!

    When our package came from Best Buy, delivered to our school on a Friday afternoon, one would have thought it was "Christmas" time. My students all huddled around me as I opened the box, and were so excited for the new technology, knowing that it was purchased for them to use. Many of my kids don't have computers at home, and I could just see the excitement on their faces as I showed them all the "pieces" and "parts" to the new laptop.

    We use the laptop each and every day. It has become part of our every day learning, and I am very grateful for your help. You made my kids smile and made me the happiest teacher in New York City!”

My class is made up of twelve 1st and 2nd grade special education students. My kids are wonderful. They are genuinely hard working and sincere. It is because of them that I love my job and look forward to going to work each and every day. They come into school every morning and greet me with a hug, always questioning what we are going to do for the day. They want to learn, however, they will often get discouraged when they cannot learn something quickly. I am working a lot this year on helping them feel success. They need to feel important and empowered, even at such a young age, so that they will develop a love for learning - even if it isn't always the easiest thing in the world. I do not want them to quit. Our classroom saying if we get something wrong is always, "It's OK. Try Again."

About my class
