READ 180 is a multimedia program that is tailored to meet specific students’ needs. The program is set up in rotations which include direct instruction from the teacher, a computer program tailored to the student, and an independent fluency rotation. During the independent fluency rotation, students are able to pick from books that are on their reading level. My students utilize the READ 180 program daily. I would love to have new books that are of a high-interest level for my students to choose from in the fluency center. These new books will be used daily by students. After choosing one of these new and exciting books like "Belly-Busting Worm Invasions!" or "My Sister the Vampire No.1," students would read for twenty minutes daily increasing their fluency. Students are required to read the book twice and then answer comprehension questions. New books will give them more options to choose from. This helps to encourage reading and gets them excited. Since so much time is spent on one book, it is imperative that the books are high interest. I have selected books that my students have looked at and are interested in reading like "Secrets of Oak Park" which is about a group of high school students trying to solve mysteries around their town. I can already see their bright and smiling faces when they see the new books come in!
