Reading Essentials
Funded Sep 9, 2021My students were ecstatic to receive the guided reading books in the beginning of this school year. It was such a delight to see the boys and girl's faces glowing with such pride and enthusiasm as they browsed through the pages of the books. Your donation helped enhanced my classroom library and provided my students with a greater selection of books to choose from during our reading workshop. Having multi-level books in different content areas sparked my students' interest in reading and love of literature.
These leveled texts support the teaching of reading for all learners. During
my guided reading groups, I introduced my students to many strategies such as reading fluently, making personal connections to a text, and word study analysis. As my students read the books, they made connections to the characters and themselves.
Most of my students are English Language Learners, hence, visuals support understanding of a concept. Two students in particular enjoyed reading "Barnyard Math with Farmer Fred" because of the illustrations and they learned how to tell time and count money from this book. I greatly appreciate all your support and donations!”

Empowering Young Minds Through Music
Funded Jul 25, 2014Thank for funding the "Empowering Young Minds Through Music" project. My students were amazed and astounded by the music and songs on the Cd's. Every morning before classroom routines, the students listened and danced to the "Alpha-Hiphop" CD. It was such a delight to see the smiling faces and enthusiasm at the beginning of each day. Some children laughed and danced when they heard the beats and sounds coming from the CD player. The lyrics on each track set a positive tone in my classroom everyday.
My students utilized the listening center during their small group instruction. The Paraprofessional assisted and monitored the students' progress in the listening center. The students listened to audio-books and had book discussions. As the classroom teacher, I provided individualized instruction to struggling students. Low performing students were given the opportunity of listening to a phonics song to help increase their reading skills.
Overall my students confidence and interest in reading was uplifted because of the resources received from this project. The students' ability to sit and follow directions is developing. I greatly appreciate your generosity and investment in my students and classroom.”
With gratitude,
