  • Classroom Library

    Funded Oct 19, 2021

Thank you so much for donating to our classroom library. The students in our school's LGBTQ club were so excited to have books with characters that represented them. In addition, because our school is majority students of color, books were also chosen for the classroom library that represent the full diversity of identities in this country. One of the student's in the club specifically commented, 'I love looking at this shelf and seeing myself represented in these books'. Beyond the LGBTQ club, even students in my physics and biology classroom have shown an interest in the library and asked to check out books. (of course they are encouraged to). None of this would be possible without your generous support.”

    With gratitude,

  • Second Screen for Science Class

    Funded Jun 2, 2021

This project was so beneficial during virtual school. Having a second screen allowed me to see my student's faces and the lessons I was presenting at the same time. The reactions I saw in students' faces helped me tailor my lessons better in a virtual world. Some students might have had confusion that they were reluctant to bring up, but seeing their expression, or asking them to hold up fingers to demonstrate level of understanding allowed me to pause and make the lesson more meaningful for all involved.”

  • Understanding Evolution Through Skulls

    Funded Jan 20, 2020

Thank you so much for donating so generously to my project. We are going to do this with our students when we learn about evolution in late April/Early May. I know the students will really enjoy the opportunity to work with real data to start to piece together evidence for evolution. I also feel really inspired to see so many people willing to support education.”

    With gratitude,

    Dr. Moll

These materials will help students learn about evolution using inquiry. These lab-grade hominid skulls, paired with a human and gorilla skull that are already in possession, will allow students to take physical measurements with a goal of better understanding human evolution. This will give the students a hands-on experience that will help them identify changes that have happened over time in their own species. I have done this lab before with a small group of students at the American Museum of Natural History and after seeing student excitement around it, would really love to bring it to the whole school.
