  • So Fresh, So Clean

    Funded Nov 10, 2021

Because of your generous donations, we have been able to keep our classroom 'so fresh and so clean. We have soap for our sink in the classroom, we have paper towels to dry off our hands, we have facial tissue to keep our noses clean, and Lysol spray to kill any germs in the air. My students have been doing their part by using gloves to clean our tables about once or twice a week. We have been able to keep our classroom as sanitized and clean as possible while trying to prevent the spread of COVID. Again, thank you so much for your donations!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Sanquanita Nellum

This classroom project was brought to life by #TeachHealthy with Nature Made.
  • In Need of Ink

    Funded Nov 10, 2021

We can finally print our materials in color because of your generous donations! We have been taking pictures of our anchor charts, and I have been printing them in color from home to paste the copies into their math notebooks. I have provided re-usable manipulatives (such as multiplication charts, card-sorting games, etc) in color and any other activities that require colorful ink. My students have appreciated the activities we do together that are in color. It has definitely brought our activities to life!”

  • Mathematicians in Need of a Laminator

    Funded Sep 23, 2021

We have been putting the laminator to work ever since it was delivered to the school! I have laminated a math project that students completed on google slides about proportional relationships, visual aides about different reading strategies students will need to utilize, printouts needed for a lesson so that students can write on them using a whiteboard marker, and so much more. With access to the laminator, we are able to save on paper and reuse resources over a period of time.

The sheet protectors have been useful as well. Every student has a place in the classroom where they can display their work. It has made it easier to add activities students do well on instead of taking work down first in order to put new ones up.

Again, thank you so much for your contributions and support!”

  • A Place to Chill and Read

    Funded Sep 13, 2021

My students finally have a space in the classroom where they can read culturally relevant stories! My students are also enjoying the beanbag chairs. A couple of my students are reading a chapter a week and another student is using one of the books to draw anime characters. The 'beanbag area' has been more than a place to read books, but also a safe place for students to take brain breaks, use the Chromebooks during independent work time, or play a structured game with a peer. I am hoping that in the future we can add more centers, like the beanbag area, to promote a fun learning environment.”

  • Future Ready! Just Need an Apple...

    Funded May 7, 2021

Our classroom is thriving with the use of technology! Having access to an iPad has allowed me to monitor my students more efficiently when they are actively engaged in an online learning platform. Some of the programs we have used this semester include Desmos, Zearn, Read Theory, Epic Reading, and more. While students are completing activities online, I am able to circulate the room while monitoring the students online and I am able to provide immediate feedback using the iPad. Additionally, I am able to provide individualized support to students who are struggling with the content.

Thank you so much again for your support and donations!”

  • Keeping It Safe and Organized!

    Funded May 8, 2021

The individual book bins have been a game-changer this school year! The students were excited to know that they have individual bins to keep their tools, activity books, and materials organized all in one place. Instructional and transitional time is maximized because we do not need to always focus on passing out or collecting daily common materials. Some of the common materials students have access to in their individual bins include a calculator, think paper, pencil, highlighter, whiteboard marker, interactive book, colored pens, and wireless mouse. And most of all, we are able to limit the spread of COVID by providing students with individual bins. Again, thank you so much for your kind donations and support!”

  • Hands-on the Mouse!

    Funded Feb 19, 2021

This past year has been a challenge and a learning experience for my students and me. Technology, such as Chromebooks and access to different learning platforms, has helped my students thrive through distance learning. The wireless mouses have supported my students with navigating through different websites on their Chromebooks. It has made it easier for students to use specific sketch or drawing tools online to show their thinking when solving math problems. With access to wireless mouses, my students were able to learn and complete activities using technology from home.”

  • Math Is Boring Without Colors!

    Funded Dec 1, 2020

This past year has been a challenge and a learning experience for my students and me. Technology, such as Chromebooks and access to different learning platforms, has helped my students thrive through distance learning. With this donation, I was able to print colorful geometric shapes and different visual representations of data for my students. Students were able to quickly zone in on key ideas and make connections conceptually.

My students struggle with writing. My students appreciated that they no longer needed to copy notes down. We spent more time discussing key ideas in the visual aides instead of wasting time copying down notes that they didn't understand. The printer that was donated to our class has brought more 'color' and clarity to our math environment!”

  • Calculate This!

    Funded Dec 27, 2020

This past year has been a challenge and a learning experience for my students and me. technology, such as Chromebooks and access to different learning platforms, has helped my students thrive through distance learning. My students needed calculators to focus more on grade-level concepts instead of spending so much time on basic calculations.

My students appreciate that the calculators have a larger display and wider buttons compared to other basic calculators, especially for my student who is visually impaired. With access to calculators, my students have one less barrier to worry about!”

  • The Need for Headphones is Real!

    Funded Dec 3, 2019

The headphones purchased by you has benefited my students. They have equal access to the content they explore through different programs online. My struggling readers are able to utilize the text-to-speech software so they can focus on learning instead of decoding. The headphones also limit any distractions they may encounter in the classroom environment and allows my students to fully focus on their online activity. When my students found out that you were donating headphones to our class, they were excited and very thankful to know kind people like you exist and care about their education. They were excited to know that they were receiving name brand headphones that can go over their ears instead of inside their ears. Again, thank you so much for giving my students much-needed headphones!”
