The K-6 students I serve LOVE learning new instruments. We are so blessed at our school to have a variety of xylophones, small non pitched percussion instruments, tubanos, and recorders. They learn best when they are able to make music with their hands!
Whenever my students see me bring out my personal ukulele, their eyes light up! The first question I always hear is, “Do we get one to play?” For many of the students in my Title I school, their only exposure to musical instruments happens in our school. Not all are lucky enough to have them at home.
Your donation would give me a class set of ukuleles! These could be used with every single one of my 420 students in various ways - from kindergarteners using them to keep a steady beat, to fifth and sixth graders discovering the chords to their favorite songs.
