  • Give Some Color To Our Classroom!

    Funded Oct 23, 2022

We are extremely grateful for every one of our donors that made it possible for us to reach our goal for our project titled "Give Some Color To Our Classroom"! As we reflect back on the days we received our items, we cannot even express how ecstatic we were to be able to open up our laminator, laminating pouches, printer, ink, photo paper, sheet protectors, etc.

If we were asked to explain the most exciting part of the new products, we would definitely say it would have to be using the printer, photo paper, sheet protectors and the laminator. These products are allowing us to put together a beautiful and colorful classroom with student work and pictures to display. It honestly makes it feel like home when we can feel joyous together and look at a timeline of our school year memories!

In saying so, having access to all the project items has already made a huge impact in the ways we prepare and present our colorful school work while building more memories together! Thanks to our donors, we also receive an overload of compliments from others within our school building for our colorful presentation of our ELA essays that are posted on our hallway bulletin board! Lastly, we cannot stop looking at the "Oh Snap" picture wall/bulletin board that is coming along nicely, which is also a fabulous addition to our classroom environment! Once again, thank you all very much for your generous donations! We love and are using everything!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Pichardo

  • Books for All!

    Funded Jan 7, 2022

We are beyond grateful for our "Books For All!" project! As soon I informed my students of the surprise project I had put together for our class, they were excited and at the same time curious of what I had done. Once the packages of the project goods arrived, they couldn't wait to open them. Seeing all of the boxes automatically put smiles on their faces. When they helped open the packages, they were ecstatic to see all the new books, book bins, bookmarks, etc.

The new books on different levels is something my students already enjoy borrowing from our new colorful book bins in our class library for their independent reading time. One of my 7th graders instantly asked to borrow the "Wonder" book the first day we opened the boxes and has certainly expressed through conversation that she has been enjoying her time reading it. I have also allowed all of my students to individually select their own patterned bookmarks, which they love! Reading the new books has made them more responsible for their reading as well as taking wonderful care of our belongings.

With your help and donations, my students are doing such a superb job independently reading in class on a daily basis, with many of them increasing their reading levels since the beginning of the school year! Another successful result from this project has been the fact that my students now know how to use dictionaries and thesauruses in order to build their overall academic language. This project has been so popular, that even other teachers in the school are looking into designing their own class projects! Thank you for helping my students enjoy themselves while making progress!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Pichardo

  • Let's Learn! But First Let's Get The Basic Class Supplies!

    Funded Aug 19, 2017

We are very thankful for our "Let's Learn! But First Let's Get The Basic Class Supplies! Project. From the very moment I informed the students a surprise arrived for them, they were eager to learn what it consisted of. I advised them that I was able to create a special welcome project for all of them as they began Middle School. They were smiling as they opened up all the brown packages. Each of my students received pencils and erasers to place in their ELA class pouches.

They couldn't believe that I personally provided them with pencil pouches. They were happy to be able to personalize their pink pearl eraser with their name and each of their seven pencils with their assigned number. The students were ecstatic to receive mini dry erase boards with multicolored dry erase markers, reading comprehension and writing prompts cubes and even more excited to open up boxes with reward items such as bookmarks, pens and mechanical pencils!

With these materials that have been donated, students have learned how to be responsible while keeping track of their pencils and eraser within their ELA pencil pouch. Their responsibility and hard work to maintain their essentials is rewarded every Friday when the pencil pouches are checked and prepped by the classroom helpers. They were also extremely content when they opened up the package with the workbooks titled How To Write A Paragraph and How To Write An Essay workbooks since they will guide them in becoming better writers. With your help, students are doing such a great job being prepared for class on a daily basis!

The fact that my students beg me every single day to hand out their pencil pouches. It is amazing that once Friday comes around, they anxiously wait for me to select students to be my helpers in counting and sharpening all 3 classes pencils for the week! This project has been so successful, that even other teachers in the school are looking into creating their own class projects! Thank you for helping my students learn and be prepared in a fun way!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Pichardo

My students in all 3 classes (Grade 6 & 7) all have special talents. I feel that I some way and some how make special connections while working with "my" kids. Without a doubt, I'm excited to say I love working with this population as they continue to show me how to add more to myself as a person while they teach me about themselves and their abilities!
