Sitting in chairs is a daily task for all of my students. Most of my students have a hard time sitting in chairs to do their work; they are just not that comfortable. Since sitting in chairs for a period of time is a task all its own, my students have a hard time concentrating on their work. They get distracted easily. If the students had something to sit on that required them to focus on sitting, it would make it easier for them to work instead of talk. Having alternative seating would allow the students to focus on their work more and mess around less. It would be more exciting for the students to have something different and even fun to sit on and it would make them more interested in what was being taught......lets face it, even adults have a hard time sitting in chairs. I have 1 ball chair in my classroom currently and my most distracted student is using it and it makes a world of difference for him so I know that if each student had their own, learning would skyrocket. It is amazing how such a simple thing could make a big difference. The more the students are interested, the more they will take in and learn.
