"Dragons Love Tacos," "Don't Open This Book," and "Diary of a Worm." Humorous and relatable titles in a classroom library grab students' attention and get them excited about reading. This excitement is crucial to developing a lifelong love of literacy. Second grade is the time when students are developing foundational reading skills that go beyond phonics and comprehension. Children are just beginning to explore the world of literature. By providing accessible and engaging material, we plant the seeds that grows motivated learners. My students love to buddy read, nestled in cozy corners in the classroom, or sprawled out shoulder to shoulder on the carpet. This project will fund a collection of stories that include specific student interests, a range of reading levels, and lots of opportunities for laughs and conversation among peers.
