Room 223 Needs a Rug Please!

Funded Nov 26, 2018

Let me start off by saying thank you for your donations. Once I knew the rug was funded I waited for the rug to arrive to reveal that we had gotten it. Their faces when they saw it filled me with joy. They were ecstatic and so excited to have their first morning meeting on the rug.

With this rug, we are able to do a community meeting. Where we are able to say our good mornings and do our sharing time. We are forever grateful for your kind gesture that has allowed us to grow as a classroom family. In addition, this place has provided an alternate space where my students can collaborate and work together on things like Reciprocal teaching and partnered research projects. The students love how comfy and cozy the rug is and is sometimes a struggle to get the children to work at their desk.

The students love to bring over pillows and lay on the rug and read independently.

You see this rug is way more than just a piece of classroom decor to us. At the start of the school year, it was extremely hard to get a few students into reading independently but once the rug came and was an option for independent reading all the students want to go to an independent reading center and stay in that center. Our students reading has improved a great deal in such a short time and you are part of the reason.

Thank you for caring and supporting and believing in my students. Your kindness and donations are impacting their lives more than you would ever know.”

With gratitude,

Ms. Lyon
