Most of my students do not have access to computers at home and are typically only consumers and never creators of technology. These devices will allow my students to learn and practice coding in a creative way and will allow them to be technology creators and bring their ideas to life.
Last year my students only had Chromebooks to work with in addition to other free web-based software. I believe to make learning more meaningful students need to experience learning in several different ways, most importantly, through creating and hands-on experiences. This year our CS classroom will also encompass engineering and robotics topics. Having Rasberry Pis to work with in the class will help my students make real-world connections.
I have included 6 sets of the Raspberry Pi devices, along with the hardware that is needed to make their creations come to life. This will enable my students to work together in small groups in a growing computer science lab.
