  • A Festive Graduation for Immigrant and Refugee Kindergarteners!

    Funded Mar 12, 2025

Thank you so much for helping me create a special graduation memory for my students! My students have worked so hard this school year and deserve a celebration to recognize their accomplishments! Everything purchased in this project will show my students that their achievements are something to be proud of! This graduation celebration will also help my students to understand the importance of graduation, and strive to acheive this milestone in future grade levels! Additionally, this graduation project will give families a special opportunity to celebrate with their students! We are all so appreciative of your generosity!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Smith

  • Hats, Gloves, and Scarves for Kindergarten ELLs

    Funded Jan 20, 2025

Thank you so much for your contribution to this project! The hats, gloves, and scarves in this project kept my students warm this winter! All of my students had so much fun picking out their favorite hat, glove, and scarf colors! And when new students enrolled, I had items left to share with them, as well! Recess, waiting at the bus stop, and everything in between was so much easier, safer, and enjoyable with the warm items from this project! My students and I are all so appreciative of your generosity, empathy, and kindness!”

  • Breakfast and Snacks for Kindergarten ELLs

    Funded Sep 24, 2024

Thank you for your generosity in providing my students with snacks and breakfast for the classroom! I cannot fully put into words how impactful this project has been for my students! Children cannot learn if their basic needs are not met, and this project has helped to provide essentials to meet these needs.

The breakfast and snacks from this project have helped so many of my students to feel safe, comfortable, and cared for in our classroom. Students know that if they arrive after breakfast is over, they will still have options for breakfast in our room. At the end of the day when students start to feel hungry again, they know they have an afternoon snack to look forward to!

The items from this project have helped to build trust and community in our classroom, and for that, I am so grateful! Thank you for helping to care for my students' greatest needs!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Smith

  • Literacy Tools for Newcomer ELLs

    Funded Oct 3, 2024

Thank you for your generosity! My students LOVE using the new literacy tools during our small group lessons! They enjoy building words with the magnet letters and writing and erasing the words that they've built! I've seen an increase in student skills since receiving these materials, as well as increased engagement in the learning! Your contribution to my classroom has already helped my students to build important foundational skills that they will need to become fluent readers! The materials have created an environment in our classroom that makes learning fun and approachable for my newly arrived English Language Learners. Thank you for helping me provide this experience for my students!”

  • Learning Financial Literacy Through Play

    Funded Oct 3, 2024

Thank you for your generous contribution to my classroom! My students were SO excited to see the new market area, play money, grocery carts, baskets, and play food. They cheered and ran straight to our dramatic play area when they saw the new items for the first time!

Students have been taking turns buying and selling the items in the grocery store! While they love using the play money for purchases, the debit card is their favorite. They love to swipe the card at the terminal and sign for their purchases! We have also been using the play money to practice counting skills in English.

I am so thankful that my students have an opportunity to build financial literacy, math skills, social skills, and English skills through a realistic play experience. The items from this project have brought so much joy to my students, and we are all so thankful for your generosity! I look forward to many more fun learning experiences with this play market in my class!”

  • Practical Pockets for Primary

    Funded Jul 31, 2018

Thank you for your contribution to my classroom! The chair pockets received through this project have provided my students with the the storage they need to organize valuable learning materials each day! Students store books, notebooks, folders, and personal belongings in their chair pockets. Without these pockets, students would not have a place to easily access these materials!

They also help create a happy, welcoming environment for my newcomer ELL students! Each table in my classroom is now identified by the color of the chair pockets around it. This makes it easy for my students to rotate between tables during learning stations and learn color names in English.

Thank you again for your important contribution to my classroom!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Smith

  • New Americans, New Language, New Skills

    Funded Oct 17, 2017

Thank you for your generous donations! My students and I have enjoyed utilizing our new classroom items immensely! My students were so excited when the materials arrived, and are engaged in their work every time we use our new items.

The new carpet has allowed my students to practice colors and letters, as well as have their own designated space during carpet and circle times. The rolling white board easel has allowed me to interactively teach my students while they are sitting at their tables. Due to the configuration of my classroom, this was not an easy task without the rolling easel. Now, I am able to roll the easel wherever it is needed, and teach on a white board, chart paper, or both at the same time. The individual dry erase boards have helped my students to practice their writing, illustrating, and math skills in an engaging way. My students are eager to participate in any lesson that includes the dry erase boards and markers!

After seeing the joy and excitement this project brought to my students, I am looking forward to beginning another Donors Choose project in the future. I have seen a great deal of growth in my students since receiving our project materials, and for that, I am truly grateful. Thank you for making a lasting impact on my students' learning, and for helping to positively shape their future.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Smith

Collaboration and interaction are important components of my students' language and social development. I've arranged my students' seats into table groups for whole group instruction. However, the tables in my classroom do not have space for students to store their materials nearby (notebooks, folders, library books, etc.). Therefore, my class is in need of chair pockets to help students stay organized and access their materials quickly. Receiving chair pockets will allow my students to continue to learn in collaborative table groups, while also teaching them organizational skills and responsibility. Having chair pockets will also help to minimize the transition time needed to gather materials, and therefore maximize instructional time during the school day. Please help my students acquire the supplies necessary to learn these important skills before leaving the primary grades. They have a short window of time to prepare for the mainstream school environment, and your support will have a positive impact on their future success!
