First grade is a busy stage in development. We are learning using many hands-on activities and incorporating movement throughout lessons and transitions. We are practicing sitting for lessons, and increasing the amounts of time spent focusing on an activity. We also are building the foundation for lifelong social skills through play and team work strategies. Still, we need more help. Our students need more resources to aide in the process of active learning, exploring different ways to calm their bodies in order to be successful in the classroom, and to be a good friend to others. The resources in this project will help students to focus their energy, practice their social skills, and calm their bodies when they need to. By donating to our project, you will help students have access to resources and materials needed to redirect their energy and attention towards important academics and social behavior. Many students don't have opportunities outside of the classroom to learn and practice appropriate ways to show their feelings. Many students have missed important stages in life such as crawling, which affects their muscle tone and fine motor skills. This project aims toward assisting students in these areas so he or she can be as successful as possible as they learn and grow through first grade.
