  • Spreading Kindness & School Spirit!

    Funded Aug 12, 2022

    This year we were able to make over 800 buttons for students, faculty and staff! Our student leadership teams worked together to create memorable experiences for our school while working on school spirit and spreading kindness. They worked together to cut out the button designs, assemble and distribute the buttons to students, faculty and staff.

    The leadership teams had input in creating the designs for each event... we made two sets of buttons: One for our school spirit week which was held in September and then Kindness week, which was held in February.

    Kids attached the buttons to their backpacks and coats, and they have carried them with them all year. They look forward to activities like this and the buttons have made a real difference in creating memories and serving as a reminder that they belong and that they are kind people.”

  • Noise Cancelling Headphones

    Thank you for your generous contribution! Students have utilized these headphones in many situations where noise and volume have been an issue.

    It's amazing the difference a simple tool can make in the daily life of students. We have students that use these at assemblies when it's too noise and we have students who need these in class when they need quiet to complete an assignment. Students love being able to adapt independently as needed.

  • Mrs. S's Calm Corner

    Thank you sincerely for the generous donations. The students gratefully use the tools each and every day to help them regulate their emotions and find healthy ways of working through those tough times.

    They most especially love the kinetic sand and accompanying molds. They enjoy working with their hands to create little scenes. It provides a wonderful opportunity to find some calm in their sometimes chaotic world.

    Over the next two years, we will continue to add regulation tools to the collection, to provide additional sensory needs and extend the invitation for even more students participate in Mrs. Shumway's Calm Corner.”

Students who need to finish up a test may do so in their own classroom. Other students with sensory needs can be more comfortable in a familiar environment. Students will be able to self-regulate their own needs and can choose to wear headphones when they know they need quiet. It's a win for all students! Please consider contributing to this project!
