Majority of my students come from a background where finding a pencil to bring to class is the last thing on their minds. The everyday struggles they encounter and the baggage they bring to the classroom can easily overshadow the need to go out and find basic schools supplies. As an educator, I can not stress enough to my students how important it is to come to class prepared. However, it would be an injustice on my part to not acknowledge the reality of the situations my students may be in. It is my job to provide for my students the tools to be successful, whether that may be a simple pencil or knowledge that can better their lives. With all of the basics provided, my students would never have to stress over the trivial materials needed for the classroom. And as cliché as it may sound, with less stress comes more success. Majority of my students come from underprivileged homes and do not have the resources to provide these materials for themselves. The items I am requesting will be made available to my students to aide them in organization for not just my class but during their entire school year. By providing these things, such as paper, binders, pencils, and other organizational materials, I am able to prepare students to become independent college and career ready scholars. Every donation, no matter how small, will help push my students to become the successful independent learners they deserve and strive to be.
