The Covid-19 Pandemic has created unique challenges for all learners, but especially our young learners. My first graders have had to be flexible to meet the needs of their household and have subsequently lost out on learning that challenges their thinking and critical problem solving skills. I hope this project will encourage my students to think outside the box and develop those skills while becoming even more creative in their thinking and ideas. STEAM is the future and our students need these experiences in school! The materials are costly and require adult attention. These materials will be used every single school day. They are tactile in nature which will engage my students on a deeper level in all general education subject areas. The skills they will learn from these materials will enhance their problem solving skills in everyday learning and promote higher level thinking as they advance through school. My students and I appreciate the support as we dive deeper into our STEAM learning and work cooperatively to solve problems in a creative way.
