  • Concrete Learning in Math

    Funded Oct 13, 2021

We are so thankful to have the support of our community to get our students the materials we need. We have added challenges this year due to remote learning last year and these materials will be a great help to fill the gaps in learning. Your support is appreciated. Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Waldron

This classroom project was brought to life by The DonorsChoose Community and 4 other donors.
  • Help Us Have a Computer for Each Student

    Funded Dec 10, 2019

Thank you for the generous donation. Having the technology needed for learning is essential. With these Chromebooks students were able to work on math skills and reading skills, at their level, while I was working with students in small groups. Having what we needed made our class run smoothly and students were more engaged. When we entered remote learning, we were able to send home the computers for students to use to access remote learning. With donations like these, all students were able to have their own computer and had access to their teacher and fellow classmates.”

  • 2nd Grade Readers

    Funded Oct 24, 2019

Your donation to our classroom has made a positive impact on our classroom. We appreciate all the support we have been provided from Donors Choose and generous people in our community. My students now have a variety of books to choose from when it is time to read. This has especially helped my struggling readers. Finding engaging text, when you are a struggling reader can be a challenge. Thanks to this project, all students are able to find books that are fun to read and are at the right level for them. Thank you for your donation.”

  • Learning at Home

    Funded Dec 1, 2020

I can not thank you enough for supporting our class. While learning from home, having the right materials to be successful was not an issue. My students were able to learn math concepts in a concrete way thanks to the base 10 blocks we were able to send home. There were able to see that adding was joining groups and subtracting was taking away, all because they were able to use the blocks to first learn what each concept was before being asked to learn the algorithm for each of these. Learning to tell time without holding a clock would have been near impossible. Thank you for giving us the tools we needed.”

    Mrs. Waldron

  • Digital Learning

    Funded Dec 27, 2020

We appreciate your support this past year so much. Teaching during a pandemic is the most challenging part of my career and having support from our community means so much to us. With this project, we were able to purchase engaging lessons and activities. Our class felt support, safe and loved as we participated in each of the things I was able to purchase with the gift cards from Teachers Pay Teachers. We were able to study plants, research penguins and dive into books. We were able to use up to date text to study holidays in an engaging and thoughtful way. Your support is appreciated.”

    Mrs. Waldron

  • Finding a Flexible Place to Work

    Funded Aug 10, 2018

Your donations was appreciated. This project gave my students a comfortable place to learn. Engagement during reading time was extremely high due to having the right materials and a nice place to sit and enjoy a book. We were able to create a space where all students felt appreciated and they also felt safe. This had a positive impact on student achievement. When students are comfortable and engaged they learn more. Federal Street School is so fortunate to have so many supporters. Thank you for all you have done for our class.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Waldron

  • Masks and Books

    Funded May 4, 2021

You donation was amazing! Children were able to change out of wet or dirty masks to fresh, clean new masks whenever they were needed. Feeling safe and clean certainly impacted each students' learning in a positive way. Our class was able to focus on learning.

The class loved the story Horrible Harry Goes to Third Grade. This character was familiar to them and they enjoyed reading about his next adventure. It was something they could relate to as they were about to also move up to third grade. Because they could relate to the character, they really enjoyed reading this story.”

  • Supplies For Our Classroom

    Funded Mar 16, 2021

Thank you for your generous donation. With these supplies we have successfully transitioned back to in person learning safely. We now have extra books to read as well as stories about kindness and sharing. The office supplies have made it easier for us to work around the room. We are able to do craft projects because each students has individual supplies and materials.

Our class has enjoyed our return to in person learning and appreciate all the support we have received this year from community members.”

  • Resources for Remote Learning

    Funded Sep 8, 2020

These resources were appreciated by all of the students and especially by me. These tools made it easier to provide instruction while at home. With the cards, we were able to math games to help us learn addition and subtractions facts. We were able to use the dice for many activities in reading and mathematics. These tools made our learning centers more engaging. Each child was able to get a mouse to use at home. We learned a new program to use and using a mouse made learning so much easier. We appreciate all the support we have received throughout this year.”

The majority of the kids in my class have experienced trauma at some point of their young lives. Creating a warm, cozy environment is essential for effective instruction with these kids. Kids need to feel comfortable and safe before they can learn. Sitting in hard plastic chairs all days in not the most comfortable place to learn and take risks. This equipment will help create that warm, comfortable space for these kids to learn and grow, While I conduct small learning groups at the table, students can use the stools to sit at attention to my lesson. Meanwhile others kids can be using the ball and floor seats to sit comfortable and read a book or work on a project. At time it is necessary to sit in their regular seats and the fidget bands will help them concentrate while working at their table.
