Help Create a Conducive Learning Classroom!
Funded Dec 23, 2023I write to you with such joy-the items donated have been used on a daily basis. When I mentioned to my newcomer students about this project, they had so many questions. "How does it work? What else can we add? Could we order gifts (they meant incentives for our prize box)?" The idea that someone would be so kind to donate the items we needed for our space was very new to them.
Then you made our little wish come true! The day all of the materials arrived, I brought them up to our stage space and placed them in a corner until I was able to open all items. The first item out was the carpet- Oh the amazement in their faces was incredible! I specifically chose the carpet with the alphabet as they are English Language Learners and having visuals is so important to their learning. The students are very careful and do their best to keep our space clean. The next day I set the projector up and we were able to complete our phonics lesson through an interactive slide deck, they were so happy! The pocket chart has become the home to many more sentence frames that drive their academic conversations. The divider has been helpful with noise cancelation and space for posters. Every item has been opened and put to use since we received them. We are so very grateful to you for choosing our project. May more blessings come your way!”

Using Technology to Ignite Bright Minds!
Funded Nov 2, 2017The headphone donation has greatly supported students in their learning in multiple ways. One, they are able to listen to videos independently that further explain and grow their Math skills through the use of Khan Academy and FrontRow. Second, students are able to listen to audiobooks through MyOn, that has helped them develop their own readers voice and improve reading level. Third, students are able to listen to the instructions for computer based test such as the Scholastic Math Inventory (SMI). Soon, students will be using the headphones for the upcoming state test in which they have the option to have the questions read to them for further comprehension.
All students were very excited to receive a headphone set of their own and a place to store them. Students have further developed their responsibility skills by ensuring they place their headphones in their assigned box of the mobile cart that was also donated. In the mobile cart students store their headphones and other important documents, it serves as a mailbox and storage space.
In all, both the headphones and mobile cart have greatly supported our classroom learning environment, helped students build ownership over their academics and their confidence in taking computer based assessments.”
