  • Inspiring Young Geographers

    Funded Nov 1, 2017

Your generous giving has made a great impact in our classroom. When I rolled up our old ratty blue rug and unfurled the brand new plush rug of the United States, the kids' eyes opened wide with delight. They are thrilled to sit on something comfortable while taking in my lessons. What's more, we use the rug to play group games about the 50 states and the geography of the country.

Additionally, the geography games are a fantastic asset to the class. The kids are excited to use interactive group games to learn about land forms in addition to other topics in world, national, and state geography.

    Thank you for your support!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Limbeck

  • Donate to the Future Walt Whitmans and Whitwomans!

    Funded Aug 12, 2017

Thank you again for your generous donations toward the poetry unit in my 4th grade classroom! We now have a wide variety of beautiful children's poetry anthologies. Kids will be using these to explore poetry and find their favorite poems. They will practice reading fluently by selecting poems to practice and perform with a partner. They will also analyze their favorite poems and discover the hidden meanings inside of poems. By learning to identify the poetic techniques that poets use, the children will be able to write their own poetry and perform it in a culminating poetry slam.

You all helped make this happen!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Limbeck

My classroom is comprised of 28 low-income bilingual students transitioning to English. When you walk into room 003 you will see a classroom of busy 9 and 10 years olds reading, writing, and collaborating to solve problems. Sunlight shines in from the windows and hand-made posters line the walls reminding students of all they have learned thus far in the school year. Students sit with their desks clustered together in groups of 4 and 5. After working independently, students partner up and work together to complete group projects that share their learning with the class. It's a joyful place of teaching and learning but it is not without its challenges. Our district is currently amidst a financial crisis leaving our school very under-resourced. I regularly have to spend my own money to provide basics for my classroom including pencils, crayons, dry-erase markers, and books. Any help is appreciated!
