This is a Transitional Kindergarten Class in a Title 1 school where the majority of the students live at or below poverty level. I have developed a family "Read At Home" program to promote equity amongst beginning students. Having a full and flexible classroom library program also empowers student choice, gives students opportunities to extend the daily curriculum, strengthens family bonds, assists in aquiring vocabulary, and helps students develop a life-long love of reading that can make all the dfference to thier academic careers.
